the canal/river
Fenelon falls park |
This Guy either loves Mack trucks or his Hockey
Team is the Bulldogs, Canadians love their Ice
Hockey
Looks Pretty |
Just check the waters edge, stay in the middle |
Busy Busy, This was a Holiday Weekend, every Man and
his dog was on the water, with the hard Winter and short
boating season they take every opportunity to go boating,
and swimming, Canadians are a hardy lot. I was wearing a Jersey and the Canadian Girls were in Bikinis, one time even less.
Beautiful but shallow |
Looking down on the cars |
Kirkfield Lock, 49ft lift, coming in from the top as we were,
you look over a 5 storey drop, not a time to hit a wrong gear,
you always enter dead slow.
We stayed above the lock for the night
and had dinner out, going there was easier than
coming home.
Heading towards Canal lake, very narrow
and shallow. Teds Kady Krogan draws 4ft 7inches and
bounced several times. You have to travel very slow,2 to 3 Knots at most, or the boat will displace all the water around it,called squat, and hit bottom, you can drop 4 to 6 inches if not slow and careful
Hole in the wall bridge, built in 1905, my sounder
went on strike here, showing nil clearance, I draw 4 ft
Ted bounced again.
On the Breakwater at entrance to Lake Simcoe. This lake has a
bad reputations for sudden storms. A very shallow lake 20 miles long and 14 miles wide, can make waves up to 8ft.We were going to cross, but forecast predicted a thunder storm with 30 knot winds
so we tied up, just as well for we had a massive storm that continued all night with Heavy rain and lightning. Had a good evening with Ted and Sue on there Kady, Dinner and drinks.
