Charleston to "hicksville"

Miles from anywhere, boat access only
The welcoming approach to Charleston was peppered with the surprise of a small and very narrow drain called Elliott Cut with a very strong current that can catch you by surprise and a sudden drop in temperature - cold enough to make us put our socks on ! We entered a very misty Charleston Harbour and moved closer to view the military installations on Fort Sumter, the island where the first shot that started the American civil war was fired. We continued up the ICW running beside the Isle of Palms - another wealthy area of mansion homes, boat houses & expensive boats. It was very busy with all sorts of boat traffic - apparently it is the beginning of the school summer break - that's goin, to be something to look forward to - boats and teenagers on the water!
